Match report CCCC – 142 for 3 from 25 overs.
LCCC – 136 for 7 from 25 overs.

Highlights with the bat – A long overdue maiden Crusader’s 50 from Big Mac – a exhibition of power and clean hitting; a classical 35 from Jez full of cover drives and pulls and an extraordinary partnership between Bomber (14*) and Diamond (12*) which contained an all run 4 and plenty of exciting running in-between which got us up to a more than respectable total.

Highlights with the ball – Shaun again bowled beautifully taking one wicket and giving us all a fright when he collapsed going for a caught and bowled (one Crusader even said “I thought that was it”); Jez could have had 4 or 5 if the ball had gone to hand – in the end he took one wicket which was a beauty to bowl a very good opener; Nick, Jamie and Skip all bowled tidily and each took a wicket. It was however a memorable penultimate over from Jamie which effectively won the match…..off the last ball of the over, with the LCCC skipper looking in total control, he tried to take a single to keep the strike, but hadn’t counted on Jamie’s quick pick and throw to ping back middle stump and run him out – class!

As a footnote it should be noted that with approx. 5 overs remaining and LCCC’s 2 x 1st XI batsman now in, the Crusaders were literally on their knees…..Roobs had been at slip all day as his cramp still hadn’t cleared 😊; Martin was just being Martin and completely immobile; Bomber had pulled his calf, groin and hammy; Diamond had taken one to the knee and Skip had pulled his groin….so 6 fit fielders…..making it another superb team effort.

I’d like to make special mention to Rob who was outstanding in the field on both days…..he was our go to man sweeping on the cover boundary and over the course of two days must have saved 30 – 40 runs – superb!!!
